Government threatens district officials as millions of shillings went missing

The commissioner in charge of physical education in the ministry of education Lamex Omara Apita has said the ministry is also demanding for an audit to justify the 665 million spent on handling the preliminary activities on Akii Bua stadium.




Speaking yesterday on Unity FM's The Afternoon Drive,  Omara Apita said his ministry signed a memorandum with Lira District Local Government over the construction of Akii Bua stadium.

 The latter was charged with handling preliminary activities for the stadium which included, bush clearing, construction of access roads among others.

 He said the Lira District Local Government was given Shs 665 million for the activities which saw a pavilion and a latrine constructed on the stadium.

Omara Apita added that they want an audit on Lira District Local Government to justify the monies,  dismissing the allegations he had a hand in mismanaging the fund.
