Man arrested and Charged with recruiting his personal LDUs

City Hall Court Grade One Magistrate Patrick Talisuna has today charged and remanded a man for allegedly obtaining money from a LDU (Local Defence Unit) recruit.

Its alleged that Benjamin Kiprono 29, a security guard and resident of Kamwokya on 27th September 2018 at Kamwokya defrauded a sum of money totalling to 250,000 shillings from a one Winnie Namataka by falsely promising to help her get recruited into the Local Defence Unit using his various connections to highly placed people in the army.

Kiprono however failed to keep his end of the bargain a situation that prompted the complainant to lodge a concern and eventually his consequent arrest.

Having presented reasonable grounds for his release, the suspect was granted a Shs. 1Million non cash bail and the case adjourned to 3rd November 2018 for mention.
