Museveni to People power :God gave me power because am trustworthy and honesty

President Yoweri Museveni today called on members of parliament to be trust worthy with the small responsibilities they have, for only then will they be entrusted with bigger responsibilities.

The President, while speaking at the National Prayer Breakfast, which is organized by parliament annually before the Independence Day celebrations, reminded the members of parliament that what each one sows is what they will reap.

Referencing the Bible in the book of Luke 16:10, Museveni cautioned the MPs at the Prayer Breakfast meeting at Hotel Africana: “You the leaders should be very careful. If you get a little trust, make sure you use it well. When you fulfill the little trust, then you will get bigger trust”

Museveni went on to inform the MPs and other delegates in attendance that God put him in the leadership position because he fulfilled the small responsibilities he was entrusted with decades ago, during the liberation war.

He cited instances where he was deployed by former Tanzanian leader Malimu Julius Nyerere, to come from Tanzania and sneak into Uganda to check on the progress of the resistance against President Idi Amin.
“(Prime Minister Dr Ruhakana) Rugunda was a student back then, staying at (Makerere’s) North Court Hall,” the president recounted.

“I would come from Tanzania at a big risk of my life, go through the borders; linkup with Rugunda, and stay in his hall.”
He added, “You members of parliament talk of oversight role. Who was over sighting me? I could have come and stopped on the way and gone back, deceived Nyerere that I did the work"

Museveni said it was because of this diligence, that God looked at him and thought he would be deserving of bigger responsibilities”
“Because I fulfilled that little trust of Mwalimu, taking a big risk, God said; I think this man should get more trust”

The President added, “When we talk of oversight don’t think of these MPs. Think of God because he is looking at you, whatever you do, whatever lies you tell"

This 20th National Prayer Break fast was held under the theme:“ All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.”
